The agency created this inventory to obtain a national estimate of health care expenditures and sources of medical care coverage for the institutionalized population. This data was used to address major health care policy issues. |
Scope & Content Note: |
This series contains a comprehensive listing of long-term care facilities, including nursing homes, old age homes, personal care homes, and of facilities for the mentally handicapped in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The records with questionnaire data contain information on the facilities, their type and type of ownership, type of residents they serve, current resident population, number of beds, including the number of skilled nursing facility Medicare and Medicaid beds, annual admissions, and operational status. |
