This series consists of records of all projects funded by the agency with grants to state, county and local governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations in the Appalachian region. The region consists of 406 counties in these 13 states: all of West Virginia and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Agency grants-in-aid include projects such as economic development, highway construction, rural development, education, health care, water and sewer development and other similar projects. A record includes project name, type of project, fiscal year, state, county or counties, amount of agency funds and other federal funds, and state and local funds. The only date information in the records is the fiscal year of the grant. |
