Date Note: This index was created between 1981 and 1987. The bulk of the microfilmed records cover the period when the United States administered the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands pursuant to a Trusteeship Agreement with the United Nations beginning in 1947. Earlier records covered by the index, mainly publications, date from 1731.

Function and Use: The Trust created this index to provide access to copied records relating to the previous governance of the territory.
Scope & Content Note: This series is an index to copied records of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI) from the period of its governance by the United States through a Trusteeship Agreement with the United Nations. The TTPI included the Micronesia archipelagoes of the Caroline Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Mariana Islands and the Palau Islands. The index includes geographic area, government department, author and title of publications, dates, microfilm reel and frame, format and quantity of material and subjects such as: budget, communication, community and economic development, education, housing, immigration, law and legislation, and property.
Access Restrictions: Unrestricted
General Note: NARA holds the microfilmed copied records for which the index facilitates access. Those records are in the series, "Donated Copy of the Records of the Trust, 1981-1987."
A second copy of the index and the microfilm is housed in the Hamilton Library, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii. The film and index were transferred to both sites in 1988.
